TEEN CAGED FOR SAVAGE DAYLIGHT KNIFE EXECUTION
Teen killer caged for savage one-blow knife execution in daylight ambush—court hears CCTV and forensics nailed him in seconds after the ruthless strike.
A teenage male has been sentenced to life imprisonment for the cold-blooded murder of 36-year-old Tyrone Pinnock, who was stabbed to death in an unprovoked attack in North Kensington.
Kevin Kelenda, now 18, of Kenton Park Crescent, Harrow, was just 16 years old when he carried out the fatal assault. He appeared before His Honour Judge Lodder KC at Wood Green Crown Court on Monday 19 May 2025, where he was handed a life sentence with a minimum term of 17 years for the offence of murder. Kelenda, whose date of birth is 5 February 2007, was also sentenced to an additional 18-month detention and training order for possession of a pointed and bladed article.
The fatal incident occurred on the evening of Thursday 19 October 2023. At approximately 18:42 hours, a passing member of the public flagged down a marked police vehicle on Kensal Road, W10, having discovered Mr Pinnock collapsed with serious stab wounds. Officers administered first aid and summoned paramedics from the London Ambulance Service. Despite their efforts, Mr Pinnock was pronounced dead at the scene.
A post-mortem examination confirmed the cause of death as a single stab wound to the chest.
The Crown’s case, presented by prosecuting counsel at trial, relied heavily on forensic evidence and comprehensive CCTV analysis. Footage showed the defendant loitering near Kensal Rise prior to following Mr Pinnock along Kensal Road. Moments later, Kelenda confronted the victim and, without any clear provocation, produced a lock knife and inflicted a fatal blow.
The weapon was not recovered, and the court heard that the precise motive for the attack remains unclear. Nevertheless, the jury found that the defendant’s actions constituted an intentional and unlawful killing, committed with the requisite mens rea for murder.
Kelenda was arrested at his home address on Wednesday 25 October 2023 following the identification of his movements and appearance through CCTV footage and witness testimony. He was formally charged with murder on Friday 27 October 2023. He initially pleaded guilty to the lesser count of possession of a bladed article during a hearing on Friday 13 December 2024, but denied murder. Following a full trial, the jury returned a unanimous guilty verdict for murder on Friday 28 March 2025.
The case was led by Detective Chief Inspector Phil Clarke of the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime Command. In a brief statement issued following sentencing, DCI Clarke confirmed that the victim was killed in “a brutal cold-blooded assault which lasted seconds but was so severe he died at the scene.” He praised the swift and detailed work of the investigation team in securing a conviction.
The victim’s family continues to be supported by specially trained officers.
Kelenda, now a legal adult, will begin serving his custodial sentence immediately and will not be eligible for parole until at least the year 2042, when he will be 35 years old.
