VPN VERIFY: Terrence Mitchell - @Basil_TGMD Behind Fake Sentencing Report — Caught & Indexed
🔍
🟥 CLAIM:
> "THIS WASN'T MANSLAUGHTER. IT WAS MURDER. A pensioner was harassed and terrified after months of abuse including having his windows smashed. They threw a firework into his house and killed him. A judge ruled it was only manslaughter and a 32-month sentence was handed out. Just one more month than Lucy Connolly got for a tweet. There is no justice anymore."

✅ FACT CHECK:
This claim is false and legally misleading.
The case referred to involves the tragic death of 76-year-old Robert Price after a firework was thrown into his home by a 16-year-old, encouraged by 18-year-old Nathan Otitodilchukwu. Both teens were convicted of manslaughter—not murder—and sentenced accordingly. The maximum sentence for youth manslaughter is limited by sentencing guidelines and the defendants’ ages.
Nathan Otitodilchukwu (18) received 6 years in custody.
The 16-year-old received 2 years and 8 months.
The sentences were within legal parameters. Contrary to Terrence’s tweet, there was no 32-month sentence for either teen, and the 6-year sentence for Otitodilchukwu is over twice as long as claimed.
More importantly, under UK law, murder requires proof of intent to kill or cause grievous bodily harm. This case—reckless and tragic as it was—did not meet that legal threshold. The prosecution accepted pleas to manslaughter after assessing evidence.
Claiming this “should have been murder” is not only legally inaccurate, it undermines the Crown Prosecution Service’s discretion, and misleads the public about how criminal intent is assessed.
