🔴 Man Charged With Murder After E-Bike Teen Killed
A 59-year-old man has been charged with murder following a fatal collision involving a teenage boy riding an e-bike in Middleton, Greater Manchester. The incident occurred just before midday on Tuesday 22 July on Rowrah Crescent in the Langley area, when emergency services were called to reports of a serious road traffic collision between a car and an e-bike.
The rider, later formally identified as 15-year-old Devon Simmonds, was pronounced dead at the scene despite the efforts of paramedics. His death prompted an immediate investigation led by Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team, who swiftly made arrests and began securing forensic evidence, including CCTV and digital material circulating online.
The suspect, Terrence King, of Castlerrigg Drive, Middleton, has been charged with murder and was remanded in custody. He is due to appear at Manchester Magistrates’ Court on Thursday 24 July. A preliminary hearing at Manchester Minshull Street Crown Court has also been scheduled for Monday 28 July.
A second male, aged 15, was also arrested as part of the wider investigation on suspicion of theft, but has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries. Greater Manchester Police have confirmed the probe remains ongoing, with detectives continuing to examine witness accounts and material evidence gathered from the area at the time of the collision.
Detective Inspector Andrew Naismith, of GMP’s Major Incident Team, stated the investigation is progressing at what he described as a “considerable pace”, and urged members of the public to avoid sharing online footage believed to capture the moment of the incident. He warned that doing so could jeopardise the integrity of the case and cause further distress to the family of the deceased.
The force is appealing for any witnesses or individuals with relevant information to come forward, either by contacting the investigation team on 0161 856 1995 quoting log number 1364 of 22/07/2025, or anonymously via Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. Further submissions, including images or video, can also be made directly through GMP’s online Major Incident Public Portal (MIPP).
The charged individual remains in custody ahead of his first court appearance, while further updates are expected following proceedings later this month.
