Man Admits Killing Mother and Daughter in High-Speed Crash
A man has pleaded guilty to causing the deaths of a mother and daughter in a high-speed crash in Birmingham.
Mohammed Ibrahim, 25, from Sheldon, appeared at Birmingham Crown Court on Wednesday where he admitted two counts of causing death by dangerous driving and three counts of causing serious injury by dangerous driving.
Amanda Riley, 49, and her mother Linda Philips, 72, were killed on 26 December 2023 in a collision on Meadway, at the junction with Kitt’s Green Road in Shard End.
Ibrahim fled the scene but later presented himself at a hospital, where he was arrested.
Investigators found he had been driving his BMW 420D at speeds between 80 and 84mph in a 30mph zone.
He has been remanded in custody ahead of sentencing on 16 July.
Detective Sergeant Paul Hughes, from the serious collision investigation unit, said:
“Amanda and Linda tragically lost their lives, and others were injured due to the selfishness and dangerous driving of Ibrahim. He made no attempt to help anyone and ran off, rather than face up to what he’d done. We quickly identified and arrested him. This incident has devastated a family we continue to support. Nothing will bring Amanda or Linda back, but we hope this plea provides the family with a sense of justice.
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
