🔴 Gunman Jailed After Firing Shots During Birmingham Street Disorder
Mohammed Ismaeel jailed for 18 years after firing shots from a car in a Birmingham street clash. See how a dispute escalated into shocking violence.
A 20-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 years in prison after firing multiple gunshots from a vehicle during a street disorder in Edgbaston last summer.
Mohammed Ismaeel, of Junction Road, Birmingham, pleaded guilty at Birmingham Crown Court to firearms offences linked to an incident on City Road on 30 May 2024. His sentence was handed down on Tuesday, 10 June.
The violence unfolded just after 6:00pm following a collision involving two vehicles. The crash escalated into disorder involving multiple individuals. Ismaeel responded by opening fire from a moving car, targeting another vehicle involved in the incident.
A man was injured in the course of the violence. His injuries were not life-threatening.
Extensive CCTV enquiries by West Midlands Police’s Major Crime Team identified Ismaeel as the gunman. Footage captured the moment he discharged the firearm — an act that might have looked more at home in GTA Online: Birmingham Edition than on a public street at rush hour.
Ismaeel was arrested the following month after a warrant was executed at his home. He initially pleaded not guilty, later changing his plea ahead of trial.
He is now serving a sentence that reflects the seriousness of using a firearm during public disorder — a crime carrying not just the potential for physical harm, but a direct threat to public safety.
