Drug dealer jailed after £23k heroin found in taxi
Drug dealer jailed after police find £23k of heroin during taxi stop in Coventry
Riding in a taxi with a kilo of heroin stuffed into shopping bags, this police stop didn’t go well for Keren Kumar.
Having earned the attention of the West Midlands Regional Organised Crime Unit, Keren Kumar’s run came to an end during a targeted vehicle stop on Jimmy Hill Way in Coventry on 4 November.
With a kilo of heroin stuffed into shopping bags—and a wrap hidden in his sock for good measure—he didn’t come off looking like just an ordinary taxi passenger.
But that was the story Kumar tried to tell. The heroin wrap in the sock? No idea how it got there. And the £23,000 stash beside him in an Asda bag? Pure coincidence.
Considering his options, by the time the case reached court, Kumar entered a guilty plea to possession of heroin with intent to supply.
At Birmingham Crown Court on 25 April, the 32-year-old, of no fixed address, was sentenced to three years and six months in prison.
In a statement, West Midlands Police said:
“The investigation was led by the Regional Organised Crime Unit for the West Midlands (ROCUWM) and is part of Operation Target, which is our 24/7 mission to tackle serious and organised crime across the region.
We’re disrupting, arresting and bringing to justice those involved in guns, drugs, money laundering and exploitation across the region.”
Well, that’s all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and I’ll see you then.
