š“ Boy, 15, Charged as Murder Probe Into Devonās Death Deepens
Shock twist in e-bike death case as 15-year-old is now charged with robbery linked to events before Devon Simmonds-Caines was allegedly murdered in broad daylight.
A 15-year-old boy has now been charged with robbery as part of the wider investigation into events that preceded the death of Devon Simmonds-Caines in Middleton, Greater Manchester. Officers from Greater Manchester Police (GMP) confirmed the charge in a formal statement issued Tuesday afternoon.
The teenage boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons due to his age, has been charged in relation to an incident which allegedly took place prior to the fatal collision on Rowrah Crescent, where 15-year-old Devon was struck by a vehicle while riding a high-powered electric motorbike. That incident, which occurred on Monday 22 July, remains the subject of an active murder investigation.
The robbery charge is not directly connected to the moment of Devonās death, but GMP have now confirmed the alleged offence forms part of the same investigative timeline. The youth is due to appear at Manchester and Salford Youth Court on 18 August, where the charge will be formally put to him.
A spokesperson for GMP said:
āOfficers investigating an incident on Rowrah Crescent in Middleton on 22 July have secured charges against a 15-year-old boy. The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, has been charged with robbery and will appear at Manchester and Salford Youth Court on 18 August. Officers are still appealing for information in relation to this case.ā
This development follows the earlier charge of murder brought against 59-year-old Terrence King, of Castlerigg Drive, Middleton. Mr King is accused of deliberately striking Devon with a car in the immediate aftermath of the robbery incident.
Devon had been riding an e-bike, widely understood to be a high-speed Sur-Ron-style electric motorbike, when he was fatally struck. The incident occurred in broad daylight on the Langley Estate, with emergency services attending the scene but unable to save the teenagerās life.
Mr King has since appeared before Minshull Street Crown Court in Manchester for a preliminary hearing, where no plea was entered. The court dealt solely with administrative matters including legal representation and case scheduling. A further pre-trial hearing has been listed for September, with a full trial now expected to begin in January 2026. Mr King was remanded into custody pending the next hearing.
Police continue to pursue further enquiries relating to the wider sequence of events, with multiple active lines of investigation underway. Anyone with information that may assist the investigation is urged to contact Greater Manchester Police or report anonymously via Crimestoppers.
Well, thatās all for now. But until our next article, please stay tuned, stay informed, but most of all stay safe, and Iāll see you then.
